Shetland 2026
Oil painting; pigment mixed with cold-pressed linseed oil. Painted on plywood panel, gesso board & cotton canvas.
These works are part of a large ongoing body of work I began in 2024. They are specifically about the Shetland Islands, a place I am revisiting this summer, where I discovered a new world of such vast beauty. A place like no other that is constantly shifting. In my works I make reference to transition and the consequences of perpetual flux, which have a profound impact on me. I find myself in front of monumental rock formations, sea stacks, gradually eroding into the sea. These works are considered, immediate, compelling and highly relevant, subsequently made during the return from my residency in 2024.
