I have recently returned from a month’s art residency at The Booth, Scalloway on the Shetland Isles. Thank you to Wasps Studios for giving me the opportunity to live and work there for 4 weeks. To Shetland Arts, Mareel for working with me to put on my solo show, Shetland, An Inspiration, showcasing work from my first residency on Shetland in 2024.
I began with drawing using a different part of the brain, I could feel, sense it, immersing myself in place, the landscape. The unconscious mind, instinct. Mark making allowing things to begin to unfold, take hold. A new rhythm emerged. New ideas, thoughts grow with the desire to capture them.
I have really appreciated my time on Shetland. A journey of exploration, excited for where these works will take me.
